Winter Fuel!

Remember that faulty heater we returned to Argos for a refund? Well, it’s quite funny actually. A few days later we were sat watching Master Chef, when the iPhone rang – it was Kelly’s lovely mum. Kelly’s mum explained that she had seen a Warmlite heater in the Asda store at Teesside Park, so she purchased it for us. She then explained that she was en-route back to Darlington and would drop it off for us before she heads home.

Meanwhile, Kelly and I had already purchased another heater from Poundstretcher (which was in the sale!), as a ‘spur of the moment’ thing! So, seen as we had our new heater on heating up our cold living room, we jumped up and removed it out of sight!

Hyundai electric heater review

Kelly’s mum arrived with the new Warmlite heater, which funnily enough was the exact same as our old heater from Argos – only it was cheaper!

So anyways, with Master Chef on pause and Kelly’s mum now out of the vicinity, it was time to unbox our new Warmlite heater and test it out. I set up the heater within minutes and plugged it into the mains. So far so good! We kept the box though, just in case we experienced the same problem as last time with this Warmlite electric heater.

Deciding that the Warmlite oil filled electric heater was far better than the Hyundai oil filled 1500W electric heater, it was time to climb back in to the industrial bin and retrieve the Hyundai heater packaging – luckily, it hadn’t been in there too long!

We dismantled the Hyundai heater, which is a lot smaller than the Warmlite heater, and I returned it back to the store the following day for a refund.

Then… You will never believe this!  The main storage heater in our ground floor flat completely broke. We couldn’t believe it – but are so thankful that Kelly’s mam bought us a brand new electric heater.

4th day of Christmas: We put up the Xmas tree!

So yesterday I finally got the Xmas tree up. I love decorating the tree, it’s so therapeutic! Behind every good Christmas tree there is a precision plan. Take ours for instance:

1). Assemble the Christmas tree, and place in the desired position.

Decorating your Xmas Tree

2). Plump out those flat Xmas tree branches – don’t be scared to go BIG with those mean fur branches!

3). Look at your pile of last years Christmas tree decorations and amaze yourself on those little cute Xmas decks you forgot you had!

4). Unravel your Christmas tree lights and ensure they all work! We bought our new Xmas tree lights from Argos.  Once checked, arrange them on your tree. Tip: it’s far easier to arrange your lights when they’re switched on – as it’s easier to see where any dark areas of the tree are!

(Please note, our lights flash on and off – hence half the tree looking ‘unlit’).

5). Once your happy with the lights, you can start to decorate your Christmas tree. Tip: it’s often easier to sort the Xmas decks in to matching groups, as it allows you to visually see how many of each decoration you have.  Our decorations are old.  Most of them are either from Marks & Spencer or House of Fraser, whilst most of the baubles were bought out of cheapness from various stores.

6.) Structure and mix and match each area of your tree. Have fun decorating your Christmas tree, get the kids involved perhaps?! Tip: Do not place large baubles too near the top of your Christmas tree.

7.) Once you’ve used up all your Xmas tree decorations, stand back and admire!

Shopping Madness: and faulty heater!

Well my lovely blogging friends, today I have been given my orders! I’m currently in search of a new cat bed (for Angel and Diesel, from itsapussycatslife – preferably a dog bed, so they can both snuggle up in a roomy yet comfortable space, god love em!) Secondly, they need a brand new cat scratch post – the type with the corked bottom, as Diesel is lazy and doesn’t use the actual scratch post part.

Thirdly, we need a draught excluder – preferably two matching ones for the living room! I did actually purchase a Warmlite oil filled electric heater from Argos, but unfortunately it was faulty! So I had a refund issued earlier this morning, and treat Kelly and I to a McDonalds breakfast with Tropicana fresh orange – yummy!

Kelly is currently in the process of cleaning the whole flat, in preparation for our Christmas decorations. Mainly, I would like to get the Xmas tree up and decorated at some point today – question is, are there enough hours left in the day?

One last thing, seen as it’s almost Xmas, I will be hunting the shops for a cool knitted jumper for Diesel and Angel – you can’t have Christmas for the kids without ‘cheesy knitwear!’ I’m also craving a Scrunch, so I will be purchasing two (one for Kelly and one for myself)! If you don’t know what a Scrunch is, I’ll show you if I’m lucky enough to of grabbed them before they sell out – they sell in minutes! Fingers crossed for the Scrunch desserts guys.

Home Accessories … and a hamster!

Other than the new washing machine we purchased on Saturday, Kelly and I purchased a new addition to the family – ‘Rolo’ a Roborovski Hamster (we adopted him from Pets at Home, after we bought the washing machine from Curry’s – as you do!). Unfortunately when we returned home with Rolo with his brand new cage and his home accessories, we discovered that the sucky stick on pads which hold his water bottle on we’re missing. As a result of this we had to go back to the other side of town.

Kelly decided to go and purchase that much needed new wash basket, from Argos. Kelly decided on a Seagrass finish wash basket, as this would match our bedroom decor, and wouldn’t look out of place stood on our carpet. I was impressed with Kelly’s choice of wash basket, with it’s woven design and linen lining.

I think it looks gorgeous and it finishes the bedroom off a treat! What do you think?

And here’s a picture of Rolo – he’s sooo cute!

Hygena Rennes black dining table review

It’s awkward when you order furniture and have to schedule delivery for a day you know your definitely going to be home bound.

Luckily, when Kelly and I ordered our Hygena Rennes glass dining table and chairs we were aware that we had a few days off around my birthday (which was the last week of May).  Although it seemed like donkeys years since we ordered it, delivery date finally arrived and we were able to erect it.  We opted for this table as it was a perfect size for the space we had available, it has a modern look and feel to it and price factor was well below our budget!  I love the way it ties in to our lounge/ dining area – it looks stunning!
It’s been two weeks since the table arrived, and we have had ample opportunity to test out our brand new square glass dining table.  The instructions were very easy to follow, and Kelly and I had no problem assembling the table and chairs.  We have had many meals at our new dining table – it’s small enough to fit the space we need it for, yet big enough to entertain four people.  All round, this table and chairs from Argos is a great buy.
