Boxing Day Madness!

Sale shopping is tiring, and you can guarantee your never first in the queue. Which is why Kelly and I had a very early night on Xmas Day! We had already booked our taxi, in advance, for 5am on Boxing Day. We were heading off to the Next sale.

We arrived at the Next 6am Boxing Day sale at 5.05am, the queue was already three shops long. Hordes of people were gathering and before long the queue was passed Queen Street Arcade! Kelly and I were unlucky to be stood in front of some chain smoking individual – beurgh, the smell chokes me every time! And you do know that ‘Smoking Kills’ right? Anyways, before long we had been handed our sale bags from the stewards. Kelly and I were within the first set of people allowed in to rampage the store of its bargains. We did well, and only spent a total of £160.00. Unfortunately there was no Next tea towels or anything for our home, which was a real shame.

On a plus side though, Kelly and I kitted ourselves out with jeans, cardigans, perfumes, socks, underwear and tops, oh and some more pyjamas. We did very well indeed. Next stop was McDonalds for a breakfast meal, followed by home for a bath and try on of our clothes, before heading to the Asda sale for 9am.

Christmas Day Gifts: I did well!

So I’ve been a bit of a ‘bad blogger’ over the festive period, my bad! I promise to make up for it though guys. Anyways, let me tell you about my Christmas Day celebrations. Kelly and I ‘always’ get an invite to Kelly’s mums house for Xmas Day. Unfortunately I’m not blessed to be as close to my mother. But anyhow, thats a different story!

Kelly and I woke up early, not because Santa had been (honest!), and we opened our gifts. Diesel and Angel were spoiled rotten with toys, as per usual! Kelly bought me some Nike Blazer trainers, which are awesome! And I also received some perfume, Hugo Boss which is my blast from my school years, and an Impulse gift set. I also received a little present off Kelly’s boss from work – everyone loves me, it seems! I was most impressed with the gift, it was one of those ‘what on earth is it’ presents. It baffled me until I unwrapped it. It was a cream tea light holder. I think it’s made from porcelain, and its just beautiful. The candle, which was included, smells of vanilla – mmmm, my favourite! The design of the cream porcelain candle holder is beautiful, it even has my initial on the front of it – sooo personal to myself, and I love it! Apparently, ‘E’ stands for Energetic, Engaging people (or something). Kelly got the exact same tea light holder, only hers features a ‘K’ on it. We have found the perfect spot for our contemporary tea light holders, which look fabulous on either side of our bedside cabinets.

Not only did my gift receiving stop there, when we arrived at Kelly’s mums we were offered various drinks and given a variety of gifts each which included a Me to You onesie, luxurious slippers and a fantastic Soap & Glory gift set (we absolutely love S&G cosmetics!). Next thing, I noticed a small envelope which had my name wrote on it. I opened it and peered inside – £50 in cash for me to hit the sales with, buzzing! Kelly’s mum and Trev are so generous, god love them!

My brother, who is a proper ‘mummy’s boy’ was invited to my mothers for Christmas Dinner, pretty shocking considering I/we did not receive an invite – but never mind. Anyways, my brother arrived at Kelly’s mums house with a huge bag full of gifts for Kelly and I. Kelly was spoiled with some Adidas Hi-Top trainers, a black F*** Me I’m Famous Ice-Watch and some Thornton’s chocolates. I however, was very spoiled indeed. I was handed four gifts, and told to open them in a specific order. Firstly, I received a F Me I’m Famous Ice Watch and OMG, a 64gb Apple iPad in white, followed by an official Apple iPad case (in red), and also a brand new leather diary for my desk at work. I was well impressed!

Then… Kelly’s uncle Paul and his partner arrived. They dished out more gifts and I received a Ted Baker cosmetic set. We finally got around to sitting at the table for our beautiful M&S Christmas Dinner.

4th day of Christmas: We put up the Xmas tree!

So yesterday I finally got the Xmas tree up. I love decorating the tree, it’s so therapeutic! Behind every good Christmas tree there is a precision plan. Take ours for instance:

1). Assemble the Christmas tree, and place in the desired position.

2). Plump out those flat Xmas tree branches – don’t be scared to go BIG with those mean fur branches!

3). Look at your pile of last years Christmas tree decorations and amaze yourself on those little cute Xmas decks you forgot you had!

4). Unravel your Christmas tree lights and ensure they all work! We bought our new Xmas tree lights from Argos.  Once checked, arrange them on your tree. Tip: it’s far easier to arrange your lights when they’re switched on – as it’s easier to see where any dark areas of the tree are!

(Please note, our lights flash on and off – hence half the tree looking ‘unlit’).

5). Once your happy with the lights, you can start to decorate your Christmas tree. Tip: it’s often easier to sort the Xmas decks in to matching groups, as it allows you to visually see how many of each decoration you have.  Our decorations are old.  Most of them are either from Marks & Spencer or House of Fraser, whilst most of the baubles were bought out of cheapness from various stores.

6.) Structure and mix and match each area of your tree. Have fun decorating your Christmas tree, get the kids involved perhaps?! Tip: Do not place large baubles too near the top of your Christmas tree.

7.) Once you’ve used up all your Xmas tree decorations, stand back and admire!

Christmas Decks 2012!

Oh my good god! I am so excited for Christmas and I can’t wait to dig the Christmas tree out, let alone dust off last year’s Christmas tree decorations!  I’ve actually wasted no time in sourcing potential new Xmas decorations.  Let me know what you think guys!

Firstly, I always think it’s a good idea to find those bold Xmas tree baubles in a Christmas bauble pack. These baubles pictured below are fantastic! Don’t you just love those purple baubles mixed in with cream and red baubles? With a price tag of £10 for 50 coloured baubles from Next, we think these Xmas tree decorations are a great find – wouldn’t you agree?

Other great finds we have come across whilst browsing trendy Xmas tree decorations include the following from Marks & Spencer.

M&S have a fabulous range of must have Christmas decorations. The Marks and Spencer Christmas Collection has a fantastic 3 for 2 offer across their range of Christmas tree decorations – you just can’t miss this one guys! Don’t you just think that the red and white knitted bauble is so cute?

Whats that coming over the hill, is it a … ‘Stag!?’

Are you in the Christmas Spirit yet? What, No?! Blimey, well these fabulous Christmas cushions from Debenhams ought to get you out of your Scrooge mood!

Aren’t they just lovely? When I came across these I thought I just had to share. I especially love the knitted cushion, the red and white design is very Christmassy and the reindeer and Christmas tree design is just the perfect touch to any must have Xmas cushion – wouldn’t you agree?

The sequin cushion featuring the stag is my personal second favourite. I love the colour combination and those sequins sparkling are so eye catching! The fact that this cushion cover is not too fussy looking means that this neutral cushion will fit in to any contemporary living room this Christmas. I’m just going to have to get one of these cushions – they simply are the perfect Christmas home accessory for 2012!

Christmas Tree Ideas 2012!

With Halloween and Bonfire night out the way, Kelly and I are already planning for our Christmas decorations. Personally, I love Christmas and decorating a Christmas tree is my speciality – or at least i’d like to think it is!

I’ve put together a list of some of my most inspiring Christmas trees. These 2012 Christmas tree ideas boast luxurious design, quirky appeal and are like nothing I have ever seen before.

First up we have this Raz Christmas tree which features deliciously inviting cookies!  This one is sure to make the kids smile.  It’s also fun looking, yet masterfully decorated to boast a fun yet luxurious over all design.

Secondly, we have this gorgeous looking RAZ Xmas tree which uses whites and creams in the over all design.  I love how simple yet striking the use of colour on this Christmas tree is.  This tree is certainly well suited to any room decor, with its plain and stylish statement look.

Thirdly we have a traditional Christmas tree design idea.  I love the way traditional Xmas trees create a warm cosy feel during the Christmas festivities.  There is nothing better than sitting in front of the TV, watching Christmas films with the ‘ole Christmas tree design stood proudly in the corner of the room.  The use of red and gold Christmas decorations certainly sets off this tree a treat.

For our next tree we have this fantastic unusual Christmas tree design.  This tree is a real show stopper!  Those winter roof tops look simply desirable.  I especially love the rustic feel these wooden Xmas decorations give.

Last but by no means least is my favourite inspiring Xmas tree.  This luxurious Christmas tree is a real eye catcher!  The branches are completely covered in cream and champagne coloured Christmas decorations.  The added flare towards the top of this Xmas tree gives a contemporary Christmas tree design which meets extravagance.

What colour decorations do my lovely blogging friends go for?  Are you inspired by any of these Christmas tree designs?  Feel free to leave your comments!
