Pet Bedroom Idea!!

Hey my fellow bloggers, it has been a while! #MyApologies….. So, anyways, a lot has gone on since my last blog post – the cats have calmed down and come around to the idea of the puppy dog (who aint so much of a puppy anymore!), we’ve decorated out the old pet play room (which used to be the office room if you remember?), and – guess what – we’ve purchased a brand new bed frame!

Firstly, I dunno what got into the cats causing a nuisance that time – I mean they are very well looked after!! I guess it was Angel’s fault – she likes to think she is the leader of the pack (so I’ll just blame her, lol!) …………. Anyhow, the wallpaper in the spare bedroom has stayed up and looks as amazing as ever – thanks to my DIY genius #BlowingMyOwnTrumpet! ………

Oh, and the once pet play room/ old office room – OMG, you’ll never believe what it looks like now….. We’ve only gone and decorated the whole room out, fitted carpets and had a purpose built bed frame! What do you think? (see below pic)

Pet Bedroom Ideas UK

The 3 tier pet bed was custom built by a young guy from our local area – he did a fantastic job! The bed was Kelly’s idea, and it looks awesome (or as the pets say, ‘pawesome’). The pet bed is the style of a bunk bed. We needed a 3 tier bunk bed, for obvious reasons – ie: two cats and a dog!…… Each bed base is the size of a UK standard pillow, which acts as a mattress for our beloved animals. We bought x3 kids fleece throws off Amazon in kids themes such as Minnie Mouse, Toy Story and Sponge Bob…… The fleece throws make an awesome cover over their soft mattress, and make cleanliness a piece of cake (we just whip those throws off each week and give em a wash via the washing machine, and jobs a good en!)….. The three fur children LOVE their beds!

The wallpaper was a bargain, and was purchased from Wilkinson’s. We needed something that was going to fit in with two boys and a girl, and we loved the fun design. Wallpapering took no time at all, and in our opinion – it looks fantastic!

The carpet was purchased from a local store in town, Darlington Carpet Centre, located on Bondgate. We opted for an off-cut (due to the size of the room, and the fact we would have little waste (if any). It was extremely cheap and fit’s the purpose what it was meant for. The cats love the fact they have soft luxury carpet (of their own) to leap on to on a morning, and Hugo (the Chihuahua) – well – he doesn’t know any different!

Grand Designs Huf Haus!

Grand designs has always been one of my favourite home development TV shows. I always get a rush of sudden excitement when I see the show is about to start.

One of my favourite episodes featured a home which was built to be Eco friendly – it was awesome! If I remember correctly, they had volunteers come from all over to help on their self build project. I’m almost certain that this episode featured the use of car tyres within the construction.  Oh, actually it definitely did – see for yourself below!  For more pictures visit the Brittany House gallery

Another episode which springs to mind is the episode featuring the Huf Haus. These kit houses are manufactured in Germany, and a team of German men come over to build the house, which takes them just seven days! Huf Haus is a spectacular design home, which is unique to fit your individual requirements. Every socket and light switch is pre-designated and assigned during the manufacturing process. I always remember the Huf Haus on Grand Designs being furnished with fantastic interior design elements in the style of Le Corbusier and Makintosh.

I love the design of this Huf Haus pictured above.  The glass to the front of the property is sure to flood natural light in!  And, check out the stunning interior below – that colourful wall looks stunning and so individual to the home owners interest and great taste in art!

More pictures of this Huf Haus can be found on the Grand Designs Huf Haus gallery.

What do you guys think to these two projects?  Did anyone see these first time round? Feel free to share, like and comment!

Is your house haunted!?

If you’re like Kelly and I, then you’re probably thinking ‘was that paranormal activity’ that just happened?! Kelly and I seem to have weird goings on in our house, quite regularly. However, neither of us are actually 100% convinced that their actually is a ghost – despite light bulbs being removed from their fittings every now and then.

Other things which have been unexplainable in our home include why on earth the storage heaters turn themselves off at the switch (even though I have OCD and check that they’re ‘definitely’ on before going to bed).  Also we encounter the sound of banging – which could be the neighbour above (even though it sounds like its from another room of our house), as we do live in a flat!) Also, we have both heard something in the cat litter, despite both our cats being sat next to us (personally, I like to think that this is our late cat popping down to let us know she is here with us). At the moment, I am yet to believe my home is haunted!

I’m not suggesting ghosts, demons and so on don’t exist – maybe they do! I read about a housing development in Taipei, Taiwan, where these fabulous 80’s retro houses are built. They look fantastic, and boast futuristic design – despite being built years ago! I read that these peculiar looking homes were ‘supposedly’ causing mysterious deaths during construction, so the developers decided to quit building these homes. Apparently the land which these homes are built on is haunted!

These San Zhi haunted houses were designed and built with the purpose of becoming homes to the rich. I reckon these fantastic ‘the Jetsons style’ futuristic domed shape homes would have been fantastic to live in. Imagine a round bed in the master bedroom – it would make the room seem even more circular!

As you can see from the pictures, which I borrowed from here and here, these unusual houses have been left abandoned and unfinished. These homes appear to look very eerie and spooky. I’m definitely going to have to visit this place sometime, I find it fascinating and intriguing.

What do you think of these cool homes? Wouldn’t you just love to own one of these? – spooked or not spooked!

Tindale Towers: North East Mansion!

Living in Darlington there’s only a handful of luxurious houses around. This mansion is certainly famous in our local area for its Hollywood glamour, and location. Built on once a drab North landscape, this house was designed around the inspiration of beach houses which owners Mike and Jules (owners of Keen Replicas) saw in Florida and the South of France.

Tindale Towers has appeared on I Own Britain’s Best Home, as well as being the star of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors annual Renaissance Awards at the Civic Centre, Newcastle.

Personally, I love this family home. The fact that this huge house is located between a bypass and a scrap yard would not deter me from living inside it – this place is awesome!  This home boasts originality and exceptional design, no wonder its on sale for £3m.
