Pet Bedroom Idea!!

Hey my fellow bloggers, it has been a while! #MyApologies….. So, anyways, a lot has gone on since my last blog post – the cats have calmed down and come around to the idea of the puppy dog (who aint so much of a puppy anymore!), we’ve decorated out the old pet play room (which used to be the office room if you remember?), and – guess what – we’ve purchased a brand new bed frame!

Firstly, I dunno what got into the cats causing a nuisance that time – I mean they are very well looked after!! I guess it was Angel’s fault – she likes to think she is the leader of the pack (so I’ll just blame her, lol!) …………. Anyhow, the wallpaper in the spare bedroom has stayed up and looks as amazing as ever – thanks to my DIY genius #BlowingMyOwnTrumpet! ………

Oh, and the once pet play room/ old office room – OMG, you’ll never believe what it looks like now….. We’ve only gone and decorated the whole room out, fitted carpets and had a purpose built bed frame! What do you think? (see below pic)

Pet Bedroom Ideas UK

The 3 tier pet bed was custom built by a young guy from our local area – he did a fantastic job! The bed was Kelly’s idea, and it looks awesome (or as the pets say, ‘pawesome’). The pet bed is the style of a bunk bed. We needed a 3 tier bunk bed, for obvious reasons – ie: two cats and a dog!…… Each bed base is the size of a UK standard pillow, which acts as a mattress for our beloved animals. We bought x3 kids fleece throws off Amazon in kids themes such as Minnie Mouse, Toy Story and Sponge Bob…… The fleece throws make an awesome cover over their soft mattress, and make cleanliness a piece of cake (we just whip those throws off each week and give em a wash via the washing machine, and jobs a good en!)….. The three fur children LOVE their beds!

The wallpaper was a bargain, and was purchased from Wilkinson’s. We needed something that was going to fit in with two boys and a girl, and we loved the fun design. Wallpapering took no time at all, and in our opinion – it looks fantastic!

The carpet was purchased from a local store in town, Darlington Carpet Centre, located on Bondgate. We opted for an off-cut (due to the size of the room, and the fact we would have little waste (if any). It was extremely cheap and fit’s the purpose what it was meant for. The cats love the fact they have soft luxury carpet (of their own) to leap on to on a morning, and Hugo (the Chihuahua) – well – he doesn’t know any different!

Cats causing a nuisance: DIY again!

Right guys, I am officially back from a stressful time of ‘puppy training’ and ‘cats misbehaving!’ During my absence, Kelly and I have been doing all sorts of DIY!  Remember that guest room which we decorated with teal striped wallpaper? Well, the cats went a tad bit crazy when the puppy dog came along – they ripped the wallpaper off the wall! Kelly and I had no alternative but to strip the remaining paper and then re hang wallpaper in our spare bedroom.

It was the first time we had ever hung wallpaper horizontally. Thankfully, the wall was not too wide, and we had plenty of room to manoeuvre.

How to hang wallpaper horizontally

The first piece went on far easier than we expected.  And before we knew it, the whole wall was finished.

Unexpected Bedroom Revamp!

Hey my fellow bloggers. Sincere apologies for why I have not been blogging much lately (my life has been flipped around with the arrival of our new addition to the family – Hugo! So anyways, you’ll meet him a little later on – you can even add him to FaceBook if you really want to!) we recently re-wallpapered our bedroom feature wall.

Basically, Kelly and I were out browsing wallpaper for our living room. Unfortunately, we weren’t too struck on any feature wallpapers – other than a desirable cream/ beige wallpaper, which I insisted we ‘needed’ for our bedroom! Anyways, we purchased a few rolls, and made tracks home.

Angel decided to get in on the action – as per usual. God love her, she is soooo cute!

Angel ready to re-decorate again

First of all, the paper was stripped off and the curtains were taken down and put through the wash for a well deserved freshen up. Secondly, the curtain pole was given a polish – as you do! Then ultimately, the wallpaper was hung. Doesn’t it look gorgeous?

And here’s a pic of our new puppy dog, Hugo – isn’t he just gorgeous!?

Heart Shaped Photo Frame: hanging on the wall!

Unbelievably our Photo Box pictures arrived yesterday morning. We couldn’t wait to get home and put them in our love heart shaped picture frame. At first we were under the impression that some of the images would need to be cropped down carefully, for them to fit in to the photo area – as Photo Box don’t have an option for creating images to the size of 2.5 x 3.5, for example. So anyways, before we got under way with the task at hand. We arranged the photographs on the outer surface, so that we could visualise where they were going to go.

Once we were happy with the arrangement, it was time to remove the back off our wall hanging heart shaped picture frame. Once removed, we noticed that the underneath was completely flat to the glass – so we were fortunate that the images didn’t need chopping down. We ensured that the photo’s would not slip down, once in the frame, by using sticky tape to secure them in place.

Once we were happy with the images, and had them straight, we re-attached the back of the picture frame and hung it back on our spare bedroom wall.

So what do you think? A cute way of storing memories huh?! And we just couldn’t resist leaving ‘Rolo’ out, god bless our little Roborovski hamster.

Love is in the air!

Hey guys, so we were out last week looking for cushions for our living room. It’s always the same, you go out with a pocket full of cash and you find ‘nothing!’ We didn’t let this stop us from spending though, and we certainly found some bargains as we shopped in our local B & M store. Check out this fantastic heart shaped white picture frame – £2.99 in the sale, what a steal!

Heart shaped photo frames

We decided to buy the above white picture frame to hang in our guest room. Our guest room features white and teal decor, so this was sure to add a focal point on that plain wall which the bed sits along. Isn’t it gorgeous? (Angel certainly seems to like it!)

Rather than us raid through our Kodak photo prints, we decided to use Photo Box. Photo Box is a new website which we have come across recently where you can upload your desired image and follow some self explanatory instructions to get the print of your dreams. Once you are happy with your prints, Photo Box prints them in photograph form and posts them out to your chosen address. Photo Box is cheap and very time efficient – why chew on with camera reels etc, paying for a bunch of photos to be developed when you can just select off your computer which images you want and have them printed for next to nowt, right?! Besides, if you sign up to Photo Box you get free prints – meaning you only pay for your postage, bonus!

We created our images yesterday, and already they are in the Royal Mail postage system. We can’t wait to receive them and showcase them in our brand new heart picture frame. To be continued…

Fabric is the new leather!

Hey my fellow bloggers, sorry I haven’t blogged sooner – my bad! Recently, I have been to the Interiors UK 2013 exhibition at Birmingham NEC. I was amazed at the turn out, and the furniture is out of this world. I did however notice one thing, not only if fabric the new black, but fabric is the new leather – or so it seems! Fabric beds were everywhere, and we love them.

Fabric beds are available in many different colours. Birlea Furniture has introduced an amazing range of fabric beds, such as the Birlea Brooklyn fabric bed which is available in chocolate brown, grey or wheat. The thing we like most about the Birlea Brooklyn Collection is that it is also available as an ottoman storage bed, which is perfect for any room lacking in storage. Currently I have only seen these particular beds available from leading bed stores such as Bed Centre UK and Bed SOS, but we’re sure other retailers will soon sharp jump on the fabric bed band wagon.

Other manufacturer’s, such as Limelight Beds, have introduced some very modern fabric beds. Our favourite is most definitely the Limelight Eclipse fabric bed in plum finish. This Limelight Jupiter bed is another favourite of ours, with its beige upholstered fabric finish and easy lift up action for the internal storage facility.

Time Living is another fine example of a fantastic manufacturer of fabric beds. Their range of Hamburg fabric beds are desirable, and come in a choice of pebble grey fabric or cocoa brown fabric finish.

Here at Home Desirable, we just love the fact that contemporary fabric beds are becoming the latest must have piece of bedroom furniture.

What we learned 2012!

Well guys, seen as its the beginning of a new year, we thought what better time to reflect on what we learned from 2012. So here it goes!

Firstly, we learned that we shouldn’t get our bathroom flooring laid by Franks the Flooring Store. Initially they did a diabolical job, and then sent the same guy out to assess/ rectify his own mistakes. Needless to say, when the guy attempted to fix his own mistakes – it became apparent he was in the wrong industry.

Frank’s the Flooring Store soon sharp sent two people to relay our black bathroom flooring. They did a fantastic job.

20130106-152158.jpg

Secondly, we learned not to purchase a headboard via eBay. Our experience of purchasing a faux suede headboard via eBay was very disappointing. Not only was the headboard description wrong in regards to the upholstered material which covered it, but also the colour was not as described. On a positive note though, the diamanté crystal detailing to the headboard was very chic. In this instance, we learned that cheaper is not always better!

20130106-152239.jpg

Thirdly, we learned that we love striped wallpaper. Just look how gorgeous our white furniture looks in our teal bedroom. The teal striped wallpaper is awesome!

20130106-152320.jpg

Fourthly, we learned that the cats love to be in on the action, especially when it comes to DIY. Take Angel for instance, she couldn’t resist taking down the wallpaper that time when we redecorated the main bedroom. Diesel is more of the gaffa type, he observes the task in hand.

20130106-152408.jpg

Finally, other than learning why you should NEVER leave kitchen appliances unattended, we learned that Kelly needed a new door mat for indoor use.

Personalised gifts: cream tea light holders

So guys, I mentioned about that porcelain candle holder. Well, I just couldn’t wait to share pics with you all.

20121229-212419.jpg

I love the design on the front, with the personal (to me) letter ‘E’ which is so stunningly visible. The detail to the porcelain candle holder is apparent all the way around. We love the circular design, with the desirable cut out detailing which glows stunningly.

What do you think? Doesn’t it look beautiful? Wouldn’t you agree that this was a very thoughtful Christmas gift?

Boxing Day Madness: Continued!

When we arrived at Asda on Boxing Day, it was rather empty – although the staff car park was almost full. Kelly was so tired that she ended up going in to Finlay’s and purchasing some Monster energy drink – that certainly did the trick, poor girl!

Finally it was 9am and the shutters were slowly, but surely, lifting up. Kelly and I made tracks to the George department, where yet again we grabbed more bargain clothes! It’s funny actually, because I used to be a size 10-12, but then kinda realised that I ‘love’ food – so it’s pretty difficult finding those designer threads I once owned in ‘plus sizes’. Anyways, George have some fantastic ranges of clothes. The jeans are cheap and always fit my curves nicely. Also, we bought more pyjamas, which funnily enough were only left in mine n Kelly’s sizes. We decided to get two new dressing gowns, as we had disposed of ours last month. And again, more socks! We had such a laugh waltzing the aisles. Again, nothing in the home ware department caught our eye unfortunately. We did however, decide to stock up on the women’s Lynx gift set – OMG, it smells gorgeous!

When we finally returned home, the cats were at the door to greet us. We unloaded our purchases and chilled out for the remainder of the day. Out of everything we purchased, the only thing needing to be returned is a casual sweater which is too big for Kelly, so she pinched mine instead! All in all, we had a fantastic time shopping in the sales. It was such a shame that the Asda home-ware department was just not striking enough for us, but never mind.

What did you guys do on Boxing Day? We’re you daft enough to be up the same time as us?! Such fun 🙂

Boxing Day Madness!

Sale shopping is tiring, and you can guarantee your never first in the queue. Which is why Kelly and I had a very early night on Xmas Day! We had already booked our taxi, in advance, for 5am on Boxing Day. We were heading off to the Next sale.

We arrived at the Next 6am Boxing Day sale at 5.05am, the queue was already three shops long. Hordes of people were gathering and before long the queue was passed Queen Street Arcade! Kelly and I were unlucky to be stood in front of some chain smoking individual – beurgh, the smell chokes me every time! And you do know that ‘Smoking Kills’ right? Anyways, before long we had been handed our sale bags from the stewards. Kelly and I were within the first set of people allowed in to rampage the store of its bargains. We did well, and only spent a total of £160.00. Unfortunately there was no Next tea towels or anything for our home, which was a real shame.

On a plus side though, Kelly and I kitted ourselves out with jeans, cardigans, perfumes, socks, underwear and tops, oh and some more pyjamas. We did very well indeed. Next stop was McDonalds for a breakfast meal, followed by home for a bath and try on of our clothes, before heading to the Asda sale for 9am.
